How Koratresin works
Four pieces of evidence in the same investigation establish two different time layers: a light echo about 52,000 years old and a channel transmission that takes seconds to hours. In Koratresin, contradictions like this are not guessed at; they are examined step by step from the disclosed record.
A human-built satellite receives data from Koratresin. The first puzzle, “Two Time Layers”, asks participants to examine four pieces of evidence. Its preview is open; personal participation is not open yet.

1. Start in the archive
The archive can be read without an account. Its introductions place the verified record, its current state of knowledge and the point where the evidence ends. External review can compare entries and follow contradictions before a personal investigation begins.
2. Choose a reconstruction
Open episodes are listed under “Puzzles”. A preview names the subject and the task without disclosing the solution or locked evidence. A verified research account is required for a personal investigation; the preview remains available without an account.
3. Examine the evidence
Each available investigation action examines a source, a methodological note or a relationship between pieces of evidence. Uncovered evidence enters the personal case file and remains readable there alongside earlier observations. The investigation state is saved after every action.
4. Test a conclusion
The task states whether a statement must be selected or a code word derived from the evidence must be entered. A wrong answer removes no evidence, costs no points and does not block another attempt. There is no time limit, and a pause is possible at any point.
A correct answer opens the prepared conclusion and the boundary of its evidence. Only “Complete investigation” marks the case file as complete.
5. Keep personal progress
A puzzle awards its predetermined research points once, when it is solved for the first time. The total determines the personal research grade. Repeated answers, reloading and later playthroughs add no further points; research grades grant no editorial or moderation rights.
6. Release an evaluation together
Some conclusions enter joint independent review. Several different research accounts must reproduce the same evaluation independently from the same evidence; one correct answer unlocks nothing on its own.
Once the independent review is complete, the fragments used, the derivation and the boundary of the evidence become readable to everyone under “Releases”. The reconstruction remains playable afterwards.
